About last week, a sister in Christ came to me complaining that her working conditions were terrible. That she never has peace and they were always bothering her even though she did nothing to attract such actions. The average person would have said “Oh they suck” “you should complain” “Just Quit” etc etc. But I had to explain to her what it means to be a child of God and the authority which she had been given as one. I pray for a stirring in your belly and an activation of the knowledge of Kingdom Authority once you’re finished reading this post. IN JESUS NAME – Amen.
The biggest problem with our generation is that so many love Christ but at the same time want to be in the world. Many people say that there’s no plain definition of what it means to be “worldly” but I’ll define it as this:
Worldliness – Conforming to the vain patterns, ideologies, and hobbies of the world which distract one from spiritual growth and focus more on emotions, feelings, experiences, and vanity than they do faith.
So what are some of signs of worldliness in a believer? Let’s run through a list of where I’ve found Christians get it wrong.
- Race, Ethnicity, Gender (Physical Appearances) – Many believers come to Christ but still hold on to, and FIGHT for their rights based on their physical appearance. I’ve noticed that if you’re the one who does such a thing, then you’ll suffer from what you’re fighting against. For example, people get on social media and talk day in and day out about racism, or sexualism etc.
- Compromise – Many believers may not DO something, and think just because they don’t do it, it means they don’t conform or accept it. And they often use the “Love of Christ” as an excuse to stand for the things of God. For example:
Saying an abortion is wrong unless under specific circumstances (rape, or advising someone to get it).
Knowing homosexuality is wrong but keeping sodomites as close friends, in and outside of the church without openly letting them know you disagree with their lifestyle and pushing them to CHANGE.
Buying things that were stolen, but are cheaper. (Don’t ask, don’t tell). Even though you didn’t steal it, you might as well have, if you didn’t stand out against it.
- MUSIC & TV – This is a big one. Many want to be in the kingdom of God but still feed their spirit with worldly music and TV shows, knowing that the message being portrayed is ungodly and does not feed the spirit, but instead invites other demonic spirits. Listening to R&B and Hip-Hop and wondering why you can’t overcome lust, and pride. Watching shows that glorify deceit, cheating, horror, and sexual perversion then wondering why you can’t trust anybody or can’t sleep at night.
Where Do I Stand?
As a child of God we must understand that we’re not supposed to hold on to certain beliefs, or ideologies while in the Kingdom of God. The world system is run by none other than Satan himself. So being compromising, being conformed to it, and holding on to those vain patterns of living only give the devil access into your life. If you want to focus on how your ethnicity, or gender are oppressed, then you’re going to be discriminated against when you leave your house.
You’ll suffer with what the world is suffering from if you’re unable to completely lay down your worldly beliefs and become kingdom minded. The bible never said that we’re required to suffer for our skin complexion, gender, or the way we look, we’re only required to suffer for CHRIST! So why do so many Christians suffer from all these things as the world? Because they’re holding on to the world and therefore subject to it.
When you see yourself as part of the world, then you’ll become afraid when you hear about sickness that are spreading. You’ll walk out of your house expecting to get discriminated against. But when you understand that you’re not OF the world, then your perspective on life will change.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. – Psalm 91:7
The world doesn’t suffer for Christ. WE DO. So we don’t have to suffer for what they do. As David said, you can have 11,000 people falling besides you but you won’t be touched. Why?
“…but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” – Daniel 11:32
The knowledge of our God, and our position in Him is the key to living a VICTORIOUS Christian life on Earth! My mother has been teaching for MANY years now. She has come across many principals in her school which turned things upside down and made her working condition unbearable. But while other teachers complained, grumbled, and took it, she PRAYED. She said “God you need to get rid of this person because they’re making it unbearable for me”. And that principal would get removed. EVER. SINGLE. TIME. Now that’s a woman who KNOWS HER GOD.
“For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.” – Isaiah 43:3
One morning my father heard God in a CLEAR AUDIBLE voice, saying “I will trade lives for your sake” Two weeks later, the tenant we had upstairs killed his wife then drowned himself in the tub. Out of all the shouting and screaming, nobody in my family heard anything. It was as if God blocked our ears in order to stop my dad from going upstairs to “help” because that would’ve got him killed. As believers we must understand that God values us highly. He is willing to give others to death and take us out of that situation. Just as he took the Israelites out of Egypt and put the Ethiopians, and Sebians in their place!
WHERE DO I START?
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” – Romans 12:2
It all begins with you COMPLETELY submitting to Christ. Cutting off those things in your life which don’t glorify God. Whether it be music, tv, movies, patterns of thought, or ideologies. That thing that you’re so passionate about, is it vanity? Are you obsessed with how people dress? Are you obsessed with how people look? Are you obsessed with taking a “stand” on a particular topic? Sit back and ask yourself, is this thing profitable to my spirit, or am I being like the world and operating in vanity?
“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.” – Matthew 16:24-28
You can only become Kingdom Minded and operate in the FULLNESS of Christ when you cut off all influences from the outside world. Your decision to deny yourself of your fleshy lusts and desires will be the beginning of you operating under kingdom authority!
“This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Are ye so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.” – Galatians 3:2-4
Many believers START spiritual, through salvation, but instead of being made perfect by the spirit of God, they are made perfect by the flesh. Spiritual growth doesn’t end at salvation, it actually only BEGINS there. And we must be careful what we feed our spirit, and of the way we think and go about life. You must not be carnally minded or seek to operate like a “NATURAL” man when we’re SPIRITS living in that body of ours.
- Ask God to help you overcome the spirit of the world, and lay down any ideology or pattern of living which doesn’t glorify Him. – Romans 12:2
- Tell God if there is anything in YOU which limits you from operating under kingdom authority, you want it to be removed. – Luke 10:19
- Pray that God give you greater revelation and a deeper understanding of the Power He’s given you to not be a victim of circumstance but instead take control of whatever situation you find yourself in. – Joshua 1:3
I PRAY THAT FROM THIS DAY YOU BEGIN TO OPERATE UNDER THE FULLNESS OF YOUR CALLING. LET THERE BE A STIRRING IN YOUR SPIRIT MAN AND LET HIM BE AWAKEN TO TAKE CONTROL OF WORLD YOU FIND YOURSELF IN. NO LONGER SHALL YOU BE A VICITIM OF CIRCUMSTANCE BUT INSTEAD YOU WILL TAKE CONTROL OF WHATEVER SITUATION YOU FIND YOURSELF IN BY THE GRACE OF GOD. I PRAY THAT EVERY AFFINITY FOR VANITY IN YOUR LIFE BE BROKEN AT THIS MOMENT. ANY UNGODLY HABBIT OR WORLDLY IDEOLOGY AND PATTERN OF LIVING BE CUT OFF IN JESUS NAME – AMEN.
